This last week I was on exchanges with another missionary and we were out trying to contact an individual. We knew what street she lived on but we didn’t have her whole address. So off we were on our search to find this person. We tried the first home on top of the hill and it looked like no one was home. We still decided to get out and knock on the door. As we got out of our truck and started walking to the front, two big dogs come bolting from the side of the house. They circled us and we each kept our eye on one of the dogs. We kept walking but made sure they didn’t come up and bite us. As we took our baby steps to the front door I see out of the corner of my eye 4 more dogs running towards. I thought for sure we were goners. We stopped dead in our tracks and really couldn’t take anymore steps or these dogs would get us. To our surprise 2 more dogs came running out to us and now we are just circled in problems! I thought for sure we were going to pay a visit to the hospital. With chopping of jaws and angry protective dogs coming towards us we were than relieved by the voice of the owner calling after them. The dogs listened to the power of the owners voice and went away. We were very happy to see that somone was home!
This experience made me reflect on the difficulties we have in life. One day we could have only a couple of problems/challenges/pains/afflictions and than the next day we face 4 more challenges/problems/pains/afflictions and we are being circled by them! You may than think how in the world am I ever going to get out of this one? Am I ever going to get through this day??
We all face challenges and problems like this on a daily basis and yet it only took one person to remove them. Just as the dog owner had that power over his dogs, so does the Savior, Jesus Christ have power to save us in hard times! Jesus Christ suffered not only for our sins but for everything we face in life. (Alma 7:11-13)
Christ suffered for us to know how to help us. So if He is the only one who knows how to help you personally than wouldn’t you want to be very close to Him all the time???
Thats what He asks of us: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Mattew 11:28. Christ suffered to help you personally in whatever you are facing! He knows how you feel, what your thoughts are, and He knows the pain you go through. So come unto Him and feel the healing power He has to offer!
As we do this we will feel relieved and we will know He is truly there for us! We will feel our lives changed and our faith will grow in Him. Always remember He wants to help us, so please come unto Him! He wants to help! He is the only one who can help us because He knows us personally. May we all strive daily to come unto Him so that we can be helped!
